The number of Ukrainian refugees in the EU has exceeded 10 million people. Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, made this statement during an interview with the French Sud Radio.

Commenting on the influx of migrants in the Italian island of Lampedusa, Breton mentioned that the issue of migration affects the EU not only in the South. He stated, "We have received over 10 million Ukrainian migrants. The migration issue is not only about the South but also the East." Breton highlighted that the Czech Republic has accepted the highest percentage of Ukrainians among EU countries.

"4% of the population, 440,000 Ukrainian migrants in a country of 9 million – can you imagine?" Breton exclaimed emotionally to the host. He added that Ukraine migrants are welcomed with open arms in Hungary and Poland, where it is easier for them to adapt.

Previously, the UOJ wrote that according to Ella Libanova, the Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies named after M.V. Ptukha at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, even after victory, Ukrainians could end up in a demographic death spiral.
