The state should promote and help the development of "its church", said the head of the newly formed structure Sergei (Epiphany) Dumenko on the air of Channel 24.
The head of the OCU expressed his conviction that the state is obliged to strengthen the positions of his structure, because "the aggressor country has the right to interfere in the affairs of not only the Ukrainian state", but also in the affairs of the UOC. Dumenko did not explain, however, on what facts this thesis is based.
“We are well aware that without the existence of the Ukrainian state the Ukrainian church cannot exist,” he admitted.
Sergei Petrovich stressed that the state should provide assistance to the OCU, which takes care of its (i.e. the state’s) interests. As an example of such concern, Dumenko cited the prohibition by the OCU to attend Easter services due to lockdown.
As reported by the UOJ, the Orthodox Church of Poland declared Epiphany remains a secular man.
