On November 7, 2023, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem stated that the Christians of the Holy Land condemn both anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, reports orthodoxianewsagency.gr.
During a meeting with Hungary's representative in Ramallah, Mrs. Rita Herenescar, Patriarch Theophilos mentioned that many Christian Churches had called for the war cessation in Gaza and prayed for peace and enlightenment for the authorities.
His Beatitude underlined that currently the Churches in the Holy Land are united in their commitments and opposed to anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, working for peace.
As an example of peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths, Patriarch Theophilos mentioned the town of Burqin in Palestine, where Christians and Muslims live harmoniously. He also highlighted Jerusalem's role as a multi-religious, multi-ethnic, and multicultural city.
As reported, Israel demanded that the Pope take a stand on whose side he is.
