Metropolitan Longin: I am being tried for Christ

On 16 November 2023, Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church said that he is being persecuted not for any offence but for his faith in Christ.

Metropolitan Longin, addressing the Romanians who supported him in connection with the persecution by the Ukrainian authorities, said that he was "not being tried for theft or for banditry but because of Christ, faith and our Church".

He thanked "all Romanian brothers for their love and for their support" and asked for their prayers: "Pray for me. I am ashamed when I set foot in the court, but I have nowhere to go, I must follow the paths that Christ leads me."

As reported, Metropolitan Longin thanked Romanians for their support.
