On November 29, 2023, a participant in the service near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra called on believers of the UOC to more actively join the prayer standing in defence of the shrine and their civil rights.
“I am very glad that I came here today,” the believer said in a video message published by the “Myriany” Telegram channel. “The saints are here with us, praying for the Lavra, for Ukraine, so that there is no war.”
According to her, “It would be great if more people came.”
“We must pray to God at home and come here as much as possible, we must defend our Lavra, say that we exist, so that our rights as citizens of Ukraine are not violated and they do not tell us where we need to go, how we should believe. I urge everyone to come as often as possible,” the believer emphasized.
Earlier a parishioner of the UOC said that, despite the winter weather, Orthodox Christians should continue to stand in prayer at the Lavra.
