Supreme Court obliges the UOC to give Kremenets Cathedral to the reserve

On 5 December 2023, the Supreme Court of Ukraine obliged the UOC to give the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kremenets, Ternopil region, to the state historical and architectural reserve. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Culture.
According to the decision of the Court, the UOC is obliged to "return" to the state the cathedral and cells XVI-XVII centuries, with a total area of 1 756.0 square metres.
Thus the Supreme Court confirmed the decision of the Court of Appeal of 2 October 2023.
The Ministry also recalled that the UOC community sent them an appeal to extend the lease agreement for the cathedral, but was refused.
As the UOJ reported, the UOC community is defending the right to use the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kremenets.
