On 15 December 2023, the prayer service near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was led by the lawyer of the monastery Archpriest Nikita Chekman, reports the Telegram channel “KozakTV1”.

The service was attended by Archpriest Georgy Boyko, the rector of the Intercession Church of the UOC in the village of Novi Petrivtsi, Kyiv region, another lawyer of the Lavra Hierodeacon Aristarkh and other clergy.

Dozens of UOC faithful gathered for the prayer standing, despite the cold weather.

"Great joy in my heart that there are people who care about what is happening around us, not indifferent to the fact that our temples are being taken away and the rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are being trampled," said Fr Nikita in a commentary to “KozakTV1”.

According to him, the support of believers strengthens the defenders of the shrine in the conviction "that we are going the right way, that we are doing everything right, and this is the way to do it, despite all the external circumstances and all the obstacles we encounter on our way".

As reported, earlier a participant of the prayer standing near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Lubov said that Orthodox Christians must protect and defend their holy shrine.
