On February 15, 2021, in the village of Parafiyivka, Ichnia district, Chernihiv region, unidentified people committed an act of vandalism in the St. Nicholas church of the UOC, breaking the gate icon, glass in the church and destroying the street lighting, the website of the Nizhyn diocese reports.

“The police were called to the scene of the crime, investigative actions were performed and statements were taken from the rector and parishioners of the church. Criminal proceedings were instituted on the fact of the crime,” the diocese reports. It is noted that the religious situation in the village has been tense for several years due to attempts by the authorities to illegally re-register the UOC parish in favor of the OCU with the assistance of the local agrarian who supports schismatics.

As the UOJ reported, the court declared illegal and canceled the re-registration of the community of the Nizhyn diocese of the UOC in the village of Parafiyivka, Chernihiv region, in favor of the OCU.
