On January 2, 2024, around 4:00 in the morning, the house where the abbot of the Bancheny Monastery, Metropolitan of the UOC Longin (Zhar), lives caught fire.

As reported from the scene, Metropolitan Longin himself was unharmed, but the roof of the house burned completely, and the dwelling itself is no longer suitable for living. People are convinced that the house was intentionally set on fire by wrongdoers.

According to information from the UOJ, on December 2, doctors hospitalized Metropolitan Longin, who had a severe stroke in the summer. The monastery is sure that the bishop's illness is related to constant pressure from the authorities, court hearings, and searches that the SBU tried to conduct in Bancheny.

Later, on December 20, Metropolitan Longin underwent heart surgery to stabilize his heart rhythm.
