UOC metropolitan’s nephew posthumously awarded the medal "For Bravery"

On 4 January 2024, at the national minute of silence in Ruzhyn, the command of the AFU posthumously awarded Sergeant Ivan Markevych with the medal "For Bravery" for personal courage shown in defence of the Homeland, reports the Zhytomyr Eparchy’s site.

The award was handed over to the parents of the soldier, the rector of St George's Church of the village of Bilylivka, Archpriest Michael Markevych and his wife, Matushka Liudmyla.

The deceased warrior Ivan is a nephew of Metropolitan Augustine of Bila Tserkva.

As earlier reported, the son of a priest and nephew of the UOC metropolitan died at the front.
