The Holy Dormition community of the UOC in the village of Perevaly of the Turiisk district, Volyn region, which suffered from the raiding of the OCU in 2019, received land for the construction of a new church and is asking for financial support, reports a UOJ correspondent with reference to the rector, Archpriest Vitaly Chaban.
According to the priest, by the decision of the council of the Turiisk United Territorial Community, the UOC community in the village of Torgovishche received a plot of land for the construction of a temple in Perevaly.
As a result of the re-registration in favour of the OCU, the Holy Dormition community lost its status of a legal entity, but de facto the community has been preserved and continues to operate. Having gathered all the necessary documents, the parish will soon begin to build a new church.
Currently, the UOC community is gathering in a room leased for the needs of believers by the local authorities. On January 3, 2021, a new rector was appointed to the faithful. At the same time, the former rector who transferred to the OCU, although he continues to live in Perevaly, no longer serves.
The arrival of the UOC in Perevaly in 2019 became one of the targets of the raider seizure by the OCU asset in the Turiisk district. Rector Archpriest Yuri Bilovus announced the transfer to a new church structure. Also, the parish was re-registered to the OCU by the order of the Volyn Regional State Administration dated June 7, 2019.
