The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, approved the decision of the Moscow diocesan court of January 13, 2024 on the ejection from the dignity of Archpriest Alexiy Uminsky. This is reported by Novaya Gazeta with reference to its source.
The publication claims that Patriarch Kirill signed the decision of the church court on the defrocking of Priest Alexiy Uminsky.
The publication emphasizes that the court decided to defrock the priest on the basis of Rule 25 of the Holy Apostles for violating the priestly oath "and for refusing to fulfill the patriarchal blessing to read a prayer for Holy Russia at the Divine Liturgy."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that on January 5, Priest Alexiy Uminsky was banned from priesthood, and on January 13, a church court deprived him of his priestly dignity.
