On March 5, 2024, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Humanitarian and Information Policy recommended the bill No. 8371 on the prohibition of the UOC for consideration in the second reading. This was reported by MP from "European Solidarity" Volodymyr Viatrovych on his Facebook page.

According to him, an updated version of the bill with "stronger" restrictions will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for the second reading.

According to the text of the bill approved by the committee, "affiliated structures with the Russian Orthodox Church will not be able to use state and communal property, and the transition of communities to the OCU will be significantly simplified."

According to sources from the UOJ in the Rada, the bill on the prohibition of the UOC could have been put to a vote in the second reading on March 6-8. However, the upcoming sessions, where the bill could be considered, were postponed due to the business trips of some MPs from the "Servant of the People" faction to the front.

As reported by the UOJ, the Church of England called on Ukraine to withdraw the bill banning the UOC.

Recall that the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of the ban on the UOC in the first reading.
