Archbishop Elpidophoros thanks Biden for supporting Ukraine and the Phanar

In his speech at the White House during the annual reception on the occasion of Greek Independence Day, the head of the Archdiocese of the Phanar in the USA, Archbishop Elpidophoros, thanked Joe Biden for supporting the Ecumenical Patriarchate and Ukraine.

Addressing Joe Biden, the head of the Archdiocese of the Phanar in the USA said, "As the President of our great country, you lead the world in defending the freedom and sovereignty of peoples."

"You remain the chief defender in the cause of our Ukrainian brothers, who two years later are still fighting for their lives against the unjust and inhuman invasion of their land," Archbishop Elpidophoros said.

He noted that Biden continues to support Ukraine and expressed his gratitude for the American leader's unwavering support.

In addition, Archbishop Elpidophoros, mentioning that Patriarch Bartholomew considers Biden his "dear friend", thanked the President of the United States "for unwavering support of the spiritual mission of our Ecumenical Patriarchate."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Biden shared how the United States dealt with "issues" of the head of the Phanar with the authorities of Turkey.
