On May 5, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Ukrainians on Easter from St. Sophia's Cathedral and noted that this holiday symbolizes the liberation of the human soul from the slavery of evil and darkness, reports the Office of the President of Ukraine.

In the President's video, an exhibition of icons painted on ammunition boxes was demonstrated. Zelensky stated that these icons are the proof that "the heavens are with us."

The President emphasized that the war has shown that Ukrainians only kneel in prayer and never before invaders and occupiers.

Speaking about Russia's attack on Ukraine, Zelensky emphasized that the former neighbor had broken all commandments, coveted our home, and come to kill us.

"The world sees it. God knows it. And we believe that there is a chevron with the Ukrainian flag on the shoulder of God. Therefore, with such an ally, life will definitely prevail over death," Zelensky said.

"May the heavens strengthen our will in the battle against thralldom. May they give us courage for new achievements and wisdom to appreciate all that we have already gained. May they give us the strength to maintain unity, and give us unity to enhance our strength," the President wished.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Verkhovna Rada MPs received a signal from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to swiftly pass Bill No. 8371 banning the UOC in the second reading.
