MP: There is no alternative for the UOC but negotiations with the OCU

Rostyslav Pavlenko, a Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party, stated that there is no alternative for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church other than negotiating with the OCU. The MP's column was published by the Glavcom edition.

He believes that representatives of the OCU have repeatedly expressed readiness for negotiations to unite with the UOC. However, according to Pavlenko, hierarchs of the UOC reject such negotiations because they are "waiting".

"Who (is waiting – Ed.) for Russian tanks. Who for 'peace', the condition of which will be 'neither army, nor language, nor faith' (as almost happened in Istanbul in the spring of '22). Who for 'parallel autocephaly' or 'stavropegia' from the Ecumenical (despite numerous statements from the Phanar about the impossibility of such options)...".

At the same time, the MP notes that these options will not exist, and there is no alternative for the UOC other than negotiations for unification with the Dumenko structure.

"If for the leadership of the UOC-MP to realize this, the state must directly prohibit the activities of the ROC in the territory of Ukraine – then it must be done," Pavlenko believes.

Earlier, the UOJ analyzed whether the unification of the OCU and the UOC is possible.
