On June 11, 2021, the head of Phanar said that the Patriarchate of Constantinople has "special duties and privileges" others are jealous of, according to Romfea publication.

The head of Phanar said that he feels "an irresistible sacred duty to serve in deeds and words the sacred cause of the Church through the special duties we inherited, each patriarch of Constantinople."

He also stated that he bears and is aware of a "unique responsibility" before all Orthodox Christians as Archbishop of Constantinople.

“Those around consider this a privilege and feel envious, it would seem, about the glory of the Resurrection, not taking into account the Golgotha of serving the Truth at any cost,” Patriarch Bartholomew asserts.

The head of Phanar also said that he "has been fighting tirelessly" for "many decades", trying to "testify about the sufferings of Christ and His Resurrection to near and far."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to Patriarch Bartholomew, the privileges of the Patriarchate of Constantinople were received from the apostles and cannot be subject to discussion.
