The Primate of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, Archbishop Georgios, stated that Montenegro falls under the jurisdiction of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the Cypriot Church does not support the autocephaly of the "Montenegrin church".

The official website of the Cypriot Church published clarification by Archbishop Georgios, stating that the question of the autocephaly of the "Montenegrin church" was not discussed with the President of Montenegro.

"What may have led to a misinterpretation is my response to a journalist's question about our relations with the Montenegrin Church. I specifically answered that we maintain relations with autocephalous Churches, stressing that the Church in Montenegro is not autocephalous," wrote Archbishop Georgios.

"For the Cypriot Church, there is no question of the autocephaly of the Church in Montenegro, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Serbian Patriarchate. Such a question is not within our purview," emphasized the Primate of the Cypriot Church.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to Archbishop Georgios, the Cypriot Church does not support the autocephaly of the Church in Montenegro.
