On June 14, 2021, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with Agence France-Presse, Reuters and Associated Press said that after the collapse of the USSR, Russia took all the victories from Ukraine, including faith, literature, as well as the victory over Nazism, president.gov.ua reports.

“This is the main split – information war against our country being a ‘doormat’. Just to appropriate all the victories Ukraine has won, all the culture, faith, literature, the victory over Nazism is political kleptomania, there is no other definition,” the President of Ukraine said.

According to Zelensky, there are no fascist and Nazi sentiments in Ukraine, but they are fabricated by the Russian media, which people in Russia thoughtlessly believe.

“It's very funny when they give an example of some kind of Nazi sentiment. I takeit in as a ‘Comedy Club’. This whole ‘Nazi-Jews’ narrative is reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Inglourious Basterds’, remember? Here is the same little phantasmagoria. I can’t understand how people in Russia generally but into this. They know us well!” said the President.

He is sure that any accusations of Ukrainians' sympathy for the Nazis are completely groundless.

“My family was shot by the Nazis during the occupation of Ukraine, which cannot be said about Russia ... Everyone fought, but some units were completely occupied. We were killed, shot, burned ... Babi Yar – it was here ... It seems that they fought against Nazism, but Nazis were we ... Who are we at all?” Zelensky said emotionally to the journalists.

As reported by the UOJ, on June 13, 2021, in the main church of the OCU, with the participation of soldiers of the Presidential Regiment, a funeral service was held for Orest Vaskul, a soldier of the Nazi SS "Galizien" division. Earlier, on Great Wednesday, April 28, a march took place in Kyiv in honor of the Nazi SS division "Galizien".
