From September 1 to 3, a Synaxis of the hierarchs of the Constantinople Patriarchate was held in Istanbul under the chairmanship of Patriarch Bartholomew. According to the Phanar's website, the meeting included five thematic sessions.

One of the sessions addressed the theory of the so-called "Russian World".

"The hierarchs unequivocally condemned this ideology and the transformation of the Church into a secular institution, as well as its use to promote state interests and the ongoing war in Ukraine following the unprovoked invasion of the sovereign state by the Russian Federation," the statement reads.

As reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists, it was expected that between 130 and 150 archbishops, metropolitans, and bishops from around the world would participate in the Synaxis, including metropolitans from the so-called New Lands of Greece (which comprise nearly half of the hierarchs of the Church of Greece), who are under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Earlier, a hierarch of the UOC commented on the definition of the "Russian World" ideology in Law 8371.
