Nikolai Skorik believes that the majority in the Verkhovna Rada will not support the bill submitted by Miriane, intended to protect the UOC from discrimination.

Under the current government, the discriminatory laws against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, adopted during the time of Petro Poroshenko, are unlikely to be canceled, Verkhovna Rada MP from the Opposition Platform - For Life party Nikolai Skorik said in a comment to the First Cossack.

According to the parliamentarian, he does not see the prospects for the adoption in the Rada of the bill number 5835 in defense of the UOC, which was prepared by the public movement "Miriane". “As of today, to say that it (bill No 5835 – Ed.) will be adopted – I’m not that optimistic,” Nikolai Skorik said. “It is hardly possible to talk about any ‘game changer’ under this government. I think it is necessary to change this government; there is no chance otherwise."

The MP also believes that now it is necessary to draw attention to the attacks on the UOC and to speak out in its defense. “Certain is the fact that we should draw attention to the pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. We must protect the UOC,” Skorik said.

As the UOJ reported, the Miriane’s bill in defense of the UOC was registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
