According to OrthodoxTimes.com, during the session of the Holy Synod of the Constantinople Patriarchate, the progress of resolving the "Ukrainian" issue was discussed. Sources report that on the second day of the meeting, the delegation of Patriarch Bartholomew, which he sent to Ukraine in August, presented a 50-page report on the visit. The atmosphere of the discussion was tense, as the hierarchs felt that the visit did not yield tangible results for achieving unity in the Ukrainian Church.
Synodal hierarchs emphasized that there are no prospects for dialogue between the head of the OCU, Epifaniy and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as both sides are unwilling to compromise. In light of this, some hierarchs even raised the possibility of convening a new unification council to find a solution for the Ukrainian church situation.
As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv recorded a video appeal to Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople after the second attempt to seize St Michael’s Cathedral in Cherkasy. The Metropolitan urged the Patriarch to intervene and put an end to the lawlessness occurring in Ukraine.
