In the 19th century, Uniate hierarchs took care of the "Russian world", recalls the TG channel History of Ukraine, having published a photo of a note from a Lviv newspaper of that period.
So, in the "Галичо-Рускій Вѣстникъ", which was published in Lviv in July 1849, the author of the article reported on the illness of the Greek Catholic Metropolitan Mikhail Levitsky (head of the UGCC from 1816 to 1858 – Ed.) and wished him recovery to further “care for the flock of the Russian world” (the digitized version of the newspaper is presented on the Calaméo service, a note about the Uniate Metropolitan – on page 8 – Ed.).
The “Галичо-Рускій Вѣстникъ” is an Austrian imperial government newspaper published in Lemberg (the name of Lviv in the Austrian and Austro-Hungarian periods of its history) in the Rusyn language from July 1849 to February 1850.
Nowadays, the Uniates are actively fighting the "Russian world". For example, in Zolochiv, Lviv region, they became participants in the persecution of the family of a UOC priest because, as a cleric of the UGCC, Nikolai Mandryk, explained, “they (representatives of the UOC – Ed.) begin to crawl like those rats out of holes in an attempt to introduce ‘the Russian world’ here".
