Robert Amsterdam, a human rights lawyer and American attorney for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, posted a photo on X showing Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny on a hospital bed in intensive care. In his post, Amsterdam noted that Metropolitan Longin suffered a heart attack during court hearings.
"On the left is Metropolitan Longin of the UOC, who suffered a heart attack during a hearing of his show trial, where he is being unlawfully prosecuted for his religious beliefs. On the right, his adopted son, who lost both legs defending Ukraine on the front line," Amsterdam wrote.
The attorney called the situation an "indefensible outrage".
As previously reported by the UOJ, the Bancheny Monastery has explained the reason for Metropolitan Longin’s hospitalization.
