OCU to investigate frescoes featuring businessmen in Lutsk Cathedral

On 7 November 2024, during a meeting of the OCU "Synod", it was decided to establish a commission to investigate the incident involving frescoes depicting businessmen in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Lutsk, reports the press service of the OCU. The frescoes have caused negative public reaction and have become the subject of widespread discussion.
The commission headed by "Metropolitan" Dimitriy of Lviv and Sokal is tasked with conducting a detailed investigation, including interviews with the cathedral’s rector, dean, and senior deacon, as well as the leaders and creators of the mural project, and to provide a report on the findings.
As reported, in Lutsk, portraits of Volyn businessmen Viktor Chornukha, Leontiy Ivanishyn, Yevhen Dudzka and MP Ihor Palytsia were painted over in the upper church of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the OCU. The portraits had been commissioned by OCU "Metropolitan" Mykhailo Zinkevych.
