Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who arrived on an official visit to the United States on October 23, was taken to George Washington University Hospital for feeling unwell due to the long flight and full schedule of events upon arrival, orthodoxtimes.com reports.

Patriarch Bartholomew was going to lead the liturgy at St. Sophia Cathedral, but he felt unwell. The doctor advised the head of Phanar to rest, and he was taken to the George Washington University Hospital for observation.

As the UOJ previously reported, on October 23, 2021, the official visit of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to the United States began, which will last until November 3.

The visit of the head of Phanar to the United States came in for criticism by the ROC, for example, the secretary of the DECR MP said that Patriarch Bartholomew's visit to the United States could cause a new wave of seizures in Ukraine.
