On December 27, 2024, Ukrainian singer Katya Chilly spoke out against the installation of a Hanukkah menorah in central Kyiv.

In a social media post, the singer called for the placement of symbols representing Ukrainian Christmas in the heart of the capital. She argued that in Kyiv, especially during wartime, there should be an emphasis on respecting national traditions.

"In the center of the Ukrainian state, in the capital of Ukraine, during a war for Ukraine, a symbol of Ukrainian Christmas should be installed. Not other symbols. And not the symbols of other peoples," she wrote.

Katya Chilly also stressed that while tolerance toward other cultures is important, preserving respect for one's own traditions and homeland is paramount.

"Respect should, first and foremost, be directed toward one's own land, one's own people, and one's own traditions, which protect this state and its people," she emphasized.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Katya Chilly believes tolerance toward the Church only exacerbates the problem and that the UOC should be dealt with "like parasites".
