Trump to allocate 500 billion dollars for AI development

On January 23, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced a new investment project worth 500 billion dollars to develop artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States.
The joint venture, named Stargate, will involve companies such as Oracle, OpenAI, and the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank.
The project will begin with the construction of a data centre in Texas. In the initial phase, companies have confirmed investments amounting to 100 billion dollars, with the total investment expected to reach 500 billion dollars in the coming years.
The event at the White House was attended by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.
President Trump stated that "the venture will create over 100,000 American jobs almost immediately."
The day before, Trump signed a series of executive orders, including the repeal of the Biden-era directive that required security checks for generative AI systems.
This move has received mixed reactions, as the previous directive required developers to share testing results with the government and assess potential risks.
The Stargate project is expected to be a key step in strengthening the US’s position in the global race for AI leadership.
As previously reported by the UOJ, AI could be out of control by 2025.
