President of Serbia Visited the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Kozji Do

Aleksandar Vučić visited the Orthodox monastery in Kozji Do and discussed the situation of Serbs in the south of the country.

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić visited the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Kozji Do as part of his visit to the Pčinja district. This was reported by the Serbian editorial office of the SPJ.

The President was welcomed by Metropolitan Pahomije of Vranje, nun Ksenija, the abbess of the monastery, as well as clergy from the surroundings of Trgovište. The monastery is a metochion of the historic monastery of Saint Prohor Pčinjski. After touring the church part of the monastery, Aleksandar Vučić and Metropolitan Pahomije held a conversation about the life and preservation of the Serbian population in the south of the country.

Particular attention was paid to the situation and living conditions of Serbs in the Preševo and Bujanovac areas. The role of the Monastery of Saint Prohor Pčinjski in the spiritual life of the Vranje region was also discussed. The parties spoke about the preservation of the spiritual, historical and cultural heritage of the monastery and about plans to restore the Vranje residence on the territory of the monastery complex.

As the SPJ previously reported, the Church and the authorities in Serbia agreed on the establishment of an Orthodox university.
