Prime Minister of Greece takes part in meeting of GOC Synod on vaccination

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived at the Synodal Palace accompanied by Minister of Education and Religions Mr Nika Kerameos and the Deputy Minister under the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Mr Ioannis Oikonomou to take part in an extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church, reports Romfea.

After his address, His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece presented to the Prime Minister the Commemorative Medal of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece to mark 200 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution.

Before the meeting of the Synod, the Prime Minister met with the hierarchs – members of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church.

A joint statement of the Prime Minister and His Beatitude was the need to show special attention and persistence in the general effort for universal vaccination of the population, especially in areas where there is low vaccination coverage. The importance of the believers’ adherence to prevention and protection measures against coronavirus was also recognized. The Greek Prime Minister thanked the Synod of the Church of Greece for the assistance it provides to the government in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

As reported, the Greek authorities banned unvaccinated people from visiting temples without a PCR test.
