On January 11, 2022, the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople announced a "non-canonical invasion" of the Russian Orthodox Church into the territory of the Alexandrian Patriarchate, reports the Romfea publication.
In its communiqué, the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople discussed "the illegal invasion of the Russian Church into the jurisdiction of the ancient Alexandrian Patriarchate."
After discussing this issue, "fraternal support of the first See of the Constantinople Church was unanimously expressed" to the Alexandrian Church.
In addition, Phanar reserved the right to "do everything possible to restore canonical order on the African continent."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Anastasios, the Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa is a response to the creation of the OCU.
