On the eve of the Akathist Saturday, the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos, on April 4, 2025, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry led the evening service at the Agapit Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
The service for the feast of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos has a distinctive feature that sets it apart from all other services of the liturgical year. During Matins, the Akathist to the Mother of God is performed in a special manner: it is divided into four parts and solemnly chanted by the clergy and choir.
The head of the church was assisted by the Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Bishop Lavr of Irpin, Bishop Mark of Borodianka, the monastery clergy, and guests in holy orders.
As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Onuphry led Vespers with the Great Penitential Canon at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
