Sociologists: Ukrainians begin to go to church more often

According to the Razumkov Centre, in the period 2000-2021. the population of Ukraine began to attend religious services more often. The study findings are published in the information materials “Specifics of Religious and Church-Religious Self-Determination of Ukraine’s Citizens: Trends 2000-2021”.
If at the beginning of the study, in 2000, to the question "Do you attend religious services, meetings, services?" 49.4% answered positively, in 2021 – already 51.3% of respondents. The peak of active attendance occurred in the period 2010-2018.
Attendance at services increased in the central and western regions of Ukraine, remained virtually unchanged in the south, and decreased in the eastern regions.
If 15.9% of respondents attended church services once a week both in 2000 and 2021, then the monthly attendance rates increased significantly, from 13.1% to 23.1%. In the southern regions of Ukraine, this jump is especially pronounced.
Analysts highlight the period from 2019 to 2021. Supporters of the OCU at that time began to attend weekly services much less frequently, with the figure dropping from 20.8% to 10.1%. The UOC faithful, on the contrary, became more active: 15.1% in 2019 and already 18.9% in the past 2021.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the vast majority of Ukraine’s adult population calls themselves believers.
