On May 17, 2025, marking the anniversary of the demolition of the Church of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, Bishop Klyment of Boriv, abbot of the Desiatynnyi (Tithe) Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the monastery’s brotherhood building, according to the monastery’s press service.
He was concelebrated by the monastery brethren and visiting clergy.
Following the liturgy, the hierarch, together with the monastics and parishioners, served a prayer service (moleben) on the site of the destroyed Church of Sts. Vladimir and Olga of the Tithe Monastery.
At the conclusion of the moleben and a cross procession, the brethren and faithful laid flowers at the site where the church once stood.
Bishop Klyment offered words of spiritual consolation to the gathered faithful.
The monastery also shared current images of the site where the church once stood.
“Is this really better? Whatever may be built here in the future – nothing can compare with God’s temple. For us, this land will forever remain holy, a place where the grace of God is still tangibly felt,” the statement read.
Exactly one year ago, in the early hours of May 17, security forces demolished the Church of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, part of the UOC Desiatynnyi Monastery in Kyiv. The UOJ previously recalled how the events unfolded.
