Radicals seize Boryspil Cathedral demanding to transfer UOC parish to OCU

In Boryspil, armed people broke into the territory of the Boris and Gleb parish of the Cathedral in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos and, threatening the rector, demanded that the community transfer to the OCU. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

“On April 14, 2022, at about 9:30 am, about 20 armed men arrived on the territory of the Boris and Gleb parish of the Cathedral in honor of the Intercession of the Mother of God in the city of Boryspil, Kyiv region, who called themselves representatives of the ‘Security Sector’. Threatening the rector, Archpriest Alexander Bondar, they demanded that the parish be transferred to the jurisdiction of the OCU,” the message says.

According to the cleric of the cathedral, Archpriest Dionisy Arendaruk, all the photo and video materials taken during the incident were confiscated from the priests.

“At the moment the temple is closed. Members of the ‘Security Sector’ have closed all entrances to the territory of the cathedral, hanged up their locks and do not let anyone in. Only the rector, me and Deacon Georgy Kish are currently on the ground. Other clerics who are near the territory of the cathedral are not allowed here,” Father Dionisy said.

According to the priest, negotiations are now ongoing between the clergy of the cathedral and representatives of the National Police and the Security Sector.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that OCU raiders began another seizure of the Assumption church of the UOC in Mykhalcha.
