On September 15, 2025, a newborn boy was found in the chapel of the Nativity of the Theotokos Convent of the UOC in the village of Lipcha, Khust district. The child was taken to Khust hospital, and the identity of the mother has been established. This was reported by ZAXID.NET with reference to the Transcarpathian Center for Emergency Medical Care.
"Workers who were working near the church heard a baby crying. In the chapel, near the icon, they found a newborn boy – wrapped, with a dried but untied umbilical cord. According to preliminary data, the child is about two days old," the medics reported.
Paramedics provided assistance to the infant and, together with an emergency medical technician, took him to Khust hospital. The child is currently under medical supervision.
The police of the Transcarpathian region clarified that they have established the identity of the mother and are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
