On September 27, 2025, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv conducted the rite of blessing of the roadside cross in the village of Kedyna Hora, Cherkasy region. This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC.

The new cross was erected on the site where the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church hold services after the raider seizure by OCU supporters of the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in the neighboring village of Blahodatne.

The previous cross had been erected during the lifetime of Metropolitan Sofroniy, but in July of this year activists desecrated the shrine – cutting down the cross itself and damaging the icons, which caused sorrow among the Orthodox but did not break their faith.

After the rite of blessing, Metropolitan Theodosiy addressed the faithful with an archpastoral word, gave them his blessing, and, as a sign of spiritual support, presented each with a prosphora.

The Orthodox community of Blahodatne continues its prayerful life under the open sky by the roadside cross, having lost the opportunity to pray in their church after it was seized on March 12, 2025.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a new UOC church was consecrated in the village of Prislep in Zakarpattia.
