Community of Ivano-Frankivsk Cathedral confirms its loyalty to UOC
On June 26, 2022, in response to the statement of the mayor of the city Ruslan Martsinkiv about the transition of the community to the OCU, the parishioners of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Ivano-Frankivsk held a parish meeting, where they unanimously confirmed their loyalty to the UOC, the press service of the Ivano-Frankivsk diocese reports.
The meeting took place after the early and late Divine Liturgies, so that all parishioners attending services at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Ivano-Frankivsk were able to vote.
According to the voting results, the parishioners unanimously testified their loyalty to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine. Not a single representative of the community spoke in favor of converting to another confession.
The protocol of the meeting with 496 signatures of parishioners will be sent to the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration (RMA).
“This once again proves that the registration of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration (RMA) of a new edition of the statute of the religious community of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ is illegal and based on falsified, forged documents by a so far unknown group of people with the aim of raider seizure of the religious building,” the diocese noted.
“The Ivano-Frankivsk diocese of the UOC once again appeals to law enforcement agencies, state authorities, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for the protection of the right to free religion of the faithful of the UOC in the Carpathian region. It also calls on the mayor of the city Ruslan Martsinkiv, other representatives of local governments, officials of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration (Regional Military Administration) to act clearly within the framework of the Law and not exceed their powers!” the diocese added.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the community of the Ivano-Frankivsk Cathedral appealed to the police because of the “transfer” to the OCU.
