Church in honor of the Chernobyl Savior Icon, Cherkasy
The church in honor of the "Chernobyl Savior" icon of the UOC became an object of raider seizure after the illegal re-registration of the OCU community in March 2025. No actual gathering of believers was held, and the legal address of the parish was absurdly registered at the residence of the UOC community elder, who opposed the "transition." When these violations became the subject of a legal dispute, the legal entity of the community was liquidated, which accelerated the seizure of the church.
On the morning of November 11, 2025, representatives of the OCU forcibly occupied the church in Cherkasy, expelling UOC parishioners, in the presence of police and SBU officers. According to eyewitnesses, the operation was led by a high-ranking SBU officer: the security forces prohibited recording the events, and the church's security system was taken under their control. Believers regard the incident as a forcible deprivation of their right to their sanctuary.
