In January 2026, the results of a sociological poll were published showing that the Romanian Orthodox Church ranks first in public trust among the country’s citizens, the INSCOP research center reports.
According to the survey data, 63.9% of respondents said they have a high level of trust in the Romanian Orthodox Church. This figure rose noticeably compared with July of last year, when a similar poll recorded trust at 57.7%.
As a result, the Romanian Orthodox Church became the institution enjoying the highest level of trust in society, surpassing the army and confirming the stability of this trend in public perception.
The poll was conducted on January 12–15, 2026, using telephone interviews (CATI) among 1,100 respondents representative of Romania’s adult population. The margin of error is ±3% at a 95% confidence level.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Romanian Church provided a mobile hospital to military medics in Odesa.
