His Beatitude tonsures four Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra brethren

On March 17, 2026, Tuesday of the fourth week of Great Lent, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Sacred Archimandrite of the Holy Dormition Monastery, performed a monastic tonsure. The rite took place in the Lavra church dedicated to St. Agapit of the Kyiv Caves, according to the website of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

The new members of the monastic brotherhood received names in honor of the holy Fathers of the Kyiv Caves. Monk Apollos was given the name Achila, Avvakum became Sisoi, Monk Enoch was named Avraamiy, and the novice Tikhon received the name Longin. After the service, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry addressed the newly tonsured monks with words of instruction. They were also congratulated by the hierarchy and the brethren of the Lavra.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that His Beatitude had tonsured fourth-year students of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary as readers.
