Pasika activist urges believers to join Uniates if they don't want to go to OCU

Serviceman and OCU activist in the Transcarpathian village of Pasika, Mykhailo Choknadiy, after two unsuccessful attempts to transfer the St. Michael community of the UOC to the OCU, called on parishioners to at least join the Greek Catholic Church.

“I proposed at yesterday's vote (on the transition to the OCU – Ed.) to include the possibility of joining the Greek Catholic Church, however, UOC representatives refused to include it in the vote,” Choknadiy complained.

He emphasized that the St. Michael Chucrh was originally built as a Uniate temple, and therefore called on people to accept Catholicism. “If UOC adherents do not want to move to the OCU, then it would be right to return to the church that our ancestors attended. But even this option is unacceptable to them. Only the UOC is acceptable to them,” the OCU and UGCC activist bitterly stated.

In the comments, local residents did not support Choknadiy.

“Misha, it's clear that you're not much of a speaker. You don't go to church, and you don't believe in God,” wrote Ivan Mariinets.

“Strange, the man is in the army but yet he seems to have more time for chatter than some old woman Maria. All neat and tidy too – clearly enough time to groom his beard, politely replying to everyone’s comments. Are you sure you’re actually in the army? Maybe you should be focusing more on military duties – fighting, so to speak? No? And here at home, thank God, in Pasika the vast majority of people are smart enough to figure out for themselves which church to attend, without Mykhailo,” writes Vasyl Popovych.

“Swindlers, what Moscow is there in the UOC? You've memorized it like a mantra and are feeding people lies for your own benefit, that's how you're playing into the Russians' hands, dividing people (Ukrainians) into right and wrong,” wrote Anna Ioanovna.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Transcarpathia, the community in the village of Pasika voted again against the transition to the OCU.
