Italian Ambassador to Ukraine thanks UOC for Odesa cathedral restoration

By the blessing of Metropolitan Agafangel and by invitation of Ambassador Carlo Formosa, Archpriest Myroslav Vdovych, assistant rector of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, participated in official events marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Republic, held in Kyiv. This is reported by the press service of the Odesa Eparchy.

The celebrations brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, state institutions, political, cultural and public circles of Ukraine and the international community.

During the meeting, the priest conveyed greetings and blessing from Metropolitan Agafangel to the Ambassador. In response, Carlo Formosa expressed sincere gratitude to His Grace for many years of cooperation and significant contribution to the restoration of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral.

As the UOJ wrote, on July 23, 2023, the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC in Odesa was destroyed as a result of a Russian missile strike. Italy and Ukraine signed an agreement on the restoration of the UOC cathedral.
