Ten Americans Embraced Orthodoxy in Oregon State on Trinity Sunday
The Orthodox community of Oregon state welcomed ten new members on Pentecost day. Priests Mark Solomon and Damian Qualt baptized a group of Americans who consciously chose Orthodoxy. Representatives of St. James parish called the mass baptism a testimony of living faith in the region. This is reported by OrthoChristian.
The community in the city of Bend grew from a small group of believers founded in two thousand and three. Initially, services here were conducted only by visiting priests, but over time the believers created a full-fledged parish.
Now the church conducts active missionary work and positions itself as a hospital for the sick and a safe haven for those seeking communion with God. The parish bears the name of St. James of Alaska and strives to continue his enlightening traditions in America.
As SPJ reported, in Vietnam eight local residents accepted Orthodoxy in the ROC.
