Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) of Bancheny expressed deep gratitude to singer Alina Grosu for her decision to hold the sacrament of Baptism within the canonical Orthodox Church, the Bancheny Monastery reported on Facebook.

According to the hierarch, this choice testifies to the firmness of the singer’s spiritual convictions. “Alinochka (Grosu), I thank you for choosing the canonical Orthodox Church,” the metropolitan said.

In his address, Metropolitan Longin recalled that faith is a personal and conscious path for every human being. “Everyone has the right to their own faith,” he noted.

The hierarch wished the artist divine help in remaining faithful to spiritual traditions: “May the Lord strengthen you in the future as well, so that you may hold firmly to the true Orthodox faith, and may He grant you peace, joy, and His blessing for many years.”

As the UOJ reported, singer Alina Grosu came under attack online for choosing a UOC church for a baptism. LB.ua chief editor Sonya Koshkina criticized the artist and the godmother of the child being baptized, also expressing outrage that the sacrament had been performed by Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna.
