Vinnytsia Eparchy venerates miraculous Brailiv Icon of Holy Theotokos
A Divine Liturgy and a religious procession were held at the Holy Trinity Brailiv Convent of the UOC on the feast day of the Brailiv-Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God.
The miraculous Brailiv-Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God was solemnly venerated on October 10, 2026, at the Holy Trinity Brailiv Convent of the Vinnytsia Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, reports the eparchy's Telegram channel.
The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, concelebrated by Metropolitan Agapit of Mohyliv-Podilskyi and Sharhorod and Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Vinnytsia and Bar, clergy of the Vinnytsia Eparchy, and guests in holy orders.
Praying at the service were the abbess of the convent, Hegumeness Antonia, the abbess of the Bar Convent, Hegumeness Dimitria, and the abbess of the Transfiguration Borysivka Convent of the Odesa Eparchy, Hegumeness Eupraxia. The service was also attended by the convent’s nuns, numerous parishioners, and pilgrims.
During the Little Entrance, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, Metropolitan Varsonofiy elevated Deacon Vasyl Kuchubeinyk to the rank of protodeacon. Special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, the preservation of the lives of servicemen, and the Ukrainian people.
After the Divine Liturgy, following a longstanding tradition, a religious procession carrying the wonderworking icon took place around the convent. At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Clement addressed the clergy, the nuns, and the faithful, congratulating everyone on the feast. Metropolitan Varsonofiy thanked the hierarchs, clerics, and all those gathered for a joint prayer.
The Brailiv-Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God was brought to the Brailiv Convent from the Pochaiv Lavra in the late 19th century. It is a copy of the Brailiv-Czestochowa Icon, executed in the Western European manner. The original icon disappeared after 1962, and its copy is now venerated in the convent.
As the UOJ reported, the miraculous icon of the Mother of God was previously honored at the Brailiv Convent.
