On July 6, 2026, residents of Kraków took part in a protest against a Muslim prayer facility that, according to the organizers, had been functioning in a residential building while presenting itself as a community center. The report was published by The European Conservative.

The demonstration was prompted by claims made by right-wing activist Michał Kostrzyński, who said he had spent several months investigating the activities of a center on Dworska Street. According to him, premises introduced to local residents as a cultural and community center were in fact being used as a venue for Muslim prayers.

Kostrzyński stated that the center is linked to the Al-Fadjr Foundation, which supports Kraków’s Muslim community. He also pointed to fundraising appeals made by the foundation last year for a third “house of prayer,” arguing that two similar facilities in the city were already operating at full capacity.

The protest was joined by members of the National Movement party, which is part of the parliamentary Confederation alliance, as well as activists from the Border Defense Movement. One of the event’s co-organizers, Piotr Bartosz, said residents opposed changes to Kraków’s “spatial and cultural order,” stressing Poland’s Christian heritage.

Kraków city officials condemned the protest organizers, accusing them of attempting to stir fear and conflict around the Islamic center. At the same time, the publication reports that following complaints from residents, the apartment owner decided not to renew the lease with the occupants of the premises.

As the UOJ previously reported, Germany has opened Western Europe’s first faculty of Islamic theology.
