An interactive AR model of the Hamaliyivka Holy Kharlampiy Women's Monastery of the Konotop Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is planned to be created in Sumy region, reports "Hlukhiv.City".
The monastery complex is intended to be reproduced as it looked more than two hundred years ago — in the 18th century. Specialists have already prepared three three-dimensional models of the monastery's structures, and now plan to add historical cells and unite the objects into an interactive augmented reality scene.
The Kharlampiy church of the monastery houses the only burial vault of Ukrainian hetmans in Ukraine — representatives of the Skoropadsky family. Thanks to the digital model, visitors will be able to see the historical appearance of the monastery and examine its architecture in detail.
The work is being carried out within the framework of the project "Hlukhivshchyna Through the Centuries: A Digital Collection of Historical and Architectural Monuments." In total, 15 sites of the Hlukhiv region are planned to be digitized using laser 3D scanning, and five lost structures are to be restored using archival photographs, drawings, and other historical materials.
The digital collection will also include the Ascension Church in Hlukhiv, the St. Nicholas Church in Poloshky, the St. Michael's and Transfiguration Churches in Voronizh, as well as other monuments of the region. The project is being implemented by the Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University named after Oleksandr Dovzhenko with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
Previously, the SPJ reported that a new chapel was consecrated in Hlukhiv.
