Artemiy Fakhrutdinov, a cleric of the OCU’s Bila Tserkva Eparchy, advised a young man considering monastic life to choose only a women’s monastery. The video had appeared earlier on his Instagram account but has only now gone viral online.
“A guy wants to go to a monastery and doesn’t know which one? Only a women’s one. Only a women’s one – you don’t even have to think twice about it. What is there to do in a men’s monastery? Only a women’s one. Oh, that’s where all the beauty of God’s creation is. And what’s in a men’s monastery? Beards – that’s all. No. A women’s one. A nunnery – don’t think twice. That’s my advice to you,” the OCU priest said.
Fakhrutdinov did not clarify whether he was being serious or whether this was his particular brand of humor.
He repeated his “advice” several times, stressing that it was his personal recommendation.
The UOJ previously reported that Fakhrutdinov said a church wedding was not necessary.
