On August 27, 2026, the persecuted Dormition parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Vaslovivtsi, Zastavna Deanery, celebrated a solemn All-Night Vigil on the eve of its patronal feast. The faithful of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the UOC reported this on Facebook.

Clergy and believers from neighboring parishes came to share the joy of the patronal feast with the parish rector, Mitred Archpriest Ioan Kuz. The festive service was led by Mitred Archpriest Roman Kantemyr, rector of the St. Nicholas the Wonderworker parish in the village of Malyi Kuchuriv.

During the service, clergy and laity prayed together to the Most Holy Theotokos, asking for her intercession and protection, for peace in Ukraine, for the health and safety of the country’s defenders, and for God’s help for all those going through difficult trials.

At the conclusion of the service, parish rector Archpriest Ioan Kuz and Archpriest Roman Kantemyr addressed the faithful with words of greeting and spiritual guidance.

As the UOJ reported, last year the foundation of a new church was consecrated in Vaslovivtsi to replace the one that had been seized.
